Signage Review
An applicant wishing to install new signage on a new or
existing building must submit the Plan Distribution Form two
weeks prior to a scheduled CCDRB meeting. Meetings are
scheduled for the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. It
is recommended that applicants review the Canton Center Design
Review Board Guidelines before submitting their design for
consideration by the Canton Center Design Review Board.
When submitted, 7 copies of the Plan Distribution Form and
the following attachments must be provided to the appropriate
Town offices (5 copies for the design review board, one copy for
the building commissioner, and one copy for the Zoning Board of
Appeals, if necessary):
- Photographic or other color graphic mock-up of the signage
placement on the building is required. Include the dimensions,
style/materials (wood, plastic, metal), type style, dimensions
of lettering, all colors, and type of lighting.
- Mock-ups must include adjacent businesses and their
signage if in a shared building. If signage is for a
stand-alone building, adjacent building should also be
included. All floors of all buildings must be shown in
photographs.
- Signage cannot obstruct other signs, or obstruct
pedestrian traffic.
- Scale of signage should take into consideration store
frontage and adjacent signs.
Architectural Review
An applicant wishing to renovate or re-build an existing
building or develop a new building must submit the Plan
Distribution Form two weeks prior to a scheduled CCDRB
meeting. Meetings are scheduled for the second and fourth
Wednesdays of each month. It is recommended that applicants
review the Canton Center Design Review Board Guidelines before
submitting their design for consideration by the Canton Center
Design Review Board.
When submitted, 7 copies of the Plan Distribution Form and
the following attachments must be provided to the appropriate

- Detailed architectural renderings and dimensions of new or
renovated building(s).
- Specification of materials to be used in the building,
such as siding, windows, doors, roofing, etc.
- Plot plan and rendering of site including placement of
buildings on site and any utilities that must be installed
external to, or to be placed on the outside of, building, such
as air conditioners, electrical, and phone, etc.
- Landscape plan, showing both existing conditions and
proposed additions and changes, including placement, types,
and quantities of plants to be used in landscaping. Included
must be a plant installation and continuing maintenance plan.
- An optional scale model including proposed changes to
existing building or new building plus surrounding existing
buildings may be required by Board.
