Announcing our New Logo

designed by CHS student Karissa Catino

The Open Book Coffeehouse is proud to announce the winner of its logo contest. Karissa Catino, a sophomore attending Canton High School, is enrolled in Michelle Hayes' Computer Art and Design II class.  The contest, which took place this past fall, encouraged Canton High School students to submit logo designs for the Open Book Coffeehouse, which is located at the Canton Public Library.   We wish to thank Michelle Hayes, and all twelve CHS graphic artists who submitted designs.  It was a difficult choice among so many creative designs.

The logo selected appropriately features an open book, a mug, and musical notes spilling out from the book. As Ms. Hayes observed,  "It's been a great real-life experience, to have the dynamics of working with a  real client and not just a theoretical one."  Emily Prigot, Coordinator of the Open Book Coffeehouse, expressed her appreciation to Ms. Hayes, Karissa Catino, and to all of the students for partipating in the contest.  "It's wonderful to have a logo designed by one of Canton's own students for Canton's own coffeehouse," she said. "There is such talent right here in our high school." Ms. Prigot notes that the logo will be used to promote the coffeehouse, such as in its press releases, on the website, in a sign outside the library, and, at some point, a backdrop banner for the community room, where the coffeehouse is held.
