The Council on Aging is responsible for identifying the needs of and educating the community about issues of people 60 and over, and providing or linking elders up with programs and services that meet their needs. The Council on Aging department also maintains the D. Forbes Will Senior Center, which is a focal point in the community. Most programs and services are offered at the Senior Center, which is handicapped accessible. The following are some of the programs provided:

Reassurance Line Life Line Info Caregivers Support Group
Fuel Assistance Health Care Proxy Frozen Meal Program
Health Care Information  Health Care Guidance Tax Assistance & Tax Program
Notary Public Support to Seniors & Families Screenings, Clinics & Education

Outreach Worker: There is an Outreach Worker available to meet with seniors and their families at our office or at their homes. The Outreach Worker assesses the seniors situations and makes recommendations on services or programs that can enhance their quality of life.

The Council on Aging provides transportation five days a week. We take seniors 60 and older and disabled individuals to: doctor appointments, food shopping, errands, food pantry, malls and other places as deemed necessary.

Meal Sites: There are two meal sites in Canton. One at the Senior Center and the other at Hagan Court. Lunch is served Monday-Friday at 12 noon. This service is provided by H.E.S.S.C.O. (our home care agency).

The Council on Aging also has a monthly newsletter that is mailed out to any senior that requests it. For more information about any of the programs/services available or to receive a monthly newsletter please call us at: 781-828-1323.
