Canton Public Library Announces Construction Website

Go beyond the safety fence at http://town.canton.ma.us/library

CANTON- In an effort to inform the public about upcoming building renovation and rehabilitation plans, the Canton Public Library Board of Trustees has designed a new website that will take residents "behind the scenes" of the construction project.

The Canton Public Library Website is located at town.canton.ma.us/library. The Library Renovation page has been designed to allow patrons and friends to track the progress of construction through photos, stories and multimedia. "This site will let all Canton residents have their own hard-hat tour in the comfort of their own homes," said George T. Comeau, Chairman of the Trustee Library Building Committee. "The site is updated frequently and has exclusive photos and video that are quite remarkable."

"Public interest in the project is quite high and it is the Trustees hope that citizens can have a close-up view of where their money and investment is going", said Betty Chelmow, Chairman of the Board of Trustees. The website is one way to involve the community. In addition, the Trustees plan a series of television programs on Cable 8 called "This Old Library" which will allow for an in-depth look at the project and a chance to meet the artisans, contractors and architects involved in the project. The website will feature a program guide and schedule of the Cable 8 shows involving the library.

The entire community has financially supported this project and several community boards and organizations have publicly endorsed the new building. The Board of Trustees look forward to demonstrating and sharing the activities of this public project to the town. This new facility is destined to become a new Canton landmark and the new website will be a key tool in the public education campaign.
