Due to the increasing number of positive cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth and in the Town of Canton, all municipal offices will be moving to a “by-appointment only” service model beginning at 8:00 a.m. on December 21, 2020. This model will remain in effect until such time as positivity rate reflects a sustained downward trend as it did during the months of June, July and August.  All offices will be staffed during normal business hours.

The appointment only service model is intended to limit contacts between visitors and employees; thereby promoting a safer work environment for visitors and employees.  Residents are encouraged to conduct business, via phone, email, US mail or by using the website when possible.  There is also a drop box located at the front of Memorial Hall for any payments or other hard copy communication with Town Offices.

Please follow this link for detailed policy on the appointment only model:  Appointment Only Policy

  • Visitors are required to wear a mask.  There are exceptions to this if medically necessary. Transactions will not be made with unmasked visitors unless there is a medical exception.
  • As outlined in the reopening plan, transactions and payments are subject to a three day wait rule unless there is an emergency.  Therefore, mail and packages will not be opened upon receipt but will be opened after three days.  No interest will accrue on bills submitted by the due date.
  • Floors will be taped for appropriate social distancing.
  • Direction signs will be posted.
  • Visitors will be screened prior to entrance.
