Under the provisions of HR 4598,

The Board of Appeals as of April 6, 2020 hereby suspends all public hearings and continuations for the duration of the current State of Emergency regarding the outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus .

Public notice will be provided once the hearings resume.

The Zoning Board of Appeals deals with matters of:

  • Density
  • Height and locations of buildings and structures
  • Parking
  • Requirements for:
    • Buildable lots
    • Earth removal
    • Signs
  • Use as they pertain to zoning districts, and overlay districts
  • Use of buildings and structures

Zoning Board

The Zoning Board of Appeals is an appointed Board that consists of three members and two alternate members. Each member serves a three-year term.

Meetings

The Board meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month in the Salah Hearing Room, Second Floor, Memorial Hall at:
801 Washington Street
Canton, MA

Starting May 16, 2019, the meetings will start at 6 pm instead of the current 7 pm start time. Public Hearings are published in the Canton Citizen. Applications for Zoning Board Hearings

Applications for Zoning Board hearings are available at the Zoning Office located within the Building Department, Lower Level, Memorial Hall. Hearing times and dates are scheduled when a completed application is submitted.
