The MBTA announced that the current proposed Wi-Fi project, submitted by BAI communications, will not be approved in its current form. The proposal had included the construction of 320 seventy-foot monopoles along the Commuter Rail network's rights of way to improve Wi-Fi service for commuters.
The MBTA invited BAI to submit a new implementation plan that better reflects the more modest project anticipated by the license, on a time frame that is consistent with the MBTA’s transportation and safety needs.
